I was talking with a dear friend over the lunch break on day two of Reiki training this past weekend, and she asked me how long I’ve been teaching.
To be honest, I have nearly lost track, but I think it’s at least 18 years.
She then asked me if I ever get bored with it, and the answer is easy: never.
I’m always searching for those things in life that help me maintain a spirit of wonder, to stay awake to the blessings and miracles that are already right here, right now.
The thing is, some of the most extraordinary, inspiring, and nourishing things on this planet are actually, in some sense, quite ordinary and commonplace…
…and yet remain hidden or forgotten.
Unfortunately, due to the wiring of our precious brains — prone to seek new and different — the most magnificent parts of the human experience are often overlooked.
There is nothing inherently bad or wrong about this, of course. I too love adventure and exploration!
It just means that it’s abundantly important for us to do what we can to preserve the everyday magic of some of the greatest gifts we will ever be given as humans in this lifetime.
My morning spiritual practice and things like gratitude surely keep me anchored in awe.
And so does teaching Reiki. 💕
(Which is about so much more than Reiki.)
Every time I am so fortunate and honored to gather with the hearts and spirits called to join us for any particular training, it feels impossible to ever grow tired of witnessing…
– people remember and reclaim parts of themselves — and awaken to their incredible healing and intuitive gifts,
– the ways inner transformation directly leads to the transformation we can offer others too,
– the profound ways that safe, gentle, supportive touch calms and relaxes the body, rebalances our system, and vastly accelerates healing — in ways that transcend both words and surface-level differences,
– the freedom and buoyancy of being that uniquely arises in safe spaces that give us permission to be human and make mistakes and not always get it right,
– the togetherness that emerges in sacred circles that allow us to discover our shared humanity,
– the ways two strangers can enter a room and walk out feeling like soul family,
– the alignment that happens when we recalibrate and reorient to Love and realize what has happened thus far does not need to determine what will from here,
– the profound healing that comes, not from force, but from a deep allowing, from plugging into the magic of the human heart and spirit and the exquisitely mysterious and magnificent life force energy that flows through and connects all of existence.
That will never, ever get old.
